Were you aware that over
70% of The Whitesboro Fire Department's calls are EMS
(Emergency Medical Services) related? Its true! Although we
are a Fire Department, we respond to roughly 600 medical
emergencies in our community. As First Responders, we arrive
on the scene first, secure it (where necessary) and provide
immediate first aid and life saving care until a
transporting unit arrives to take the patient to the
appropriate healthcare facility.
The Whitesboro Fire Department
currently maintains both BLS (Basic Life Support) and ALS
(Advanced Life Support) trained members who are constantly
updating and refreshing their skills in accordance with New
York State Protocols for BLS/ALS providers, in order to
provide the highest standards of healthcare to our
community. With the addition of Rescue 2, The Whitesboro
Fire Department is now able to respond to multiple calls in
our jurisdiction if needed with 3 units: Rescue 1, Rescue 2
and Engine 2 (a Fire Engine that is equipped with medical
equipment and responds to Motor Vehicle Accidents.)
